What a Russian manicure is
A Russian manicure is a dry manicure done with an electric file. Your hands aren't soaked. The cuticle and the dead skin on the nail are lifted and cleared with fine bits, and the nail is shaped. Because the cuticle area is clean, gel color can sit close to the cuticle line and grows out neatly.
Three ways to book it
No polish manicure, $75. Shaping and cuticle care, no color. Good between color sets, or if you just want neat, natural nails.
Manicure + color, $110. The Russian manicure, a strengthening and leveling layer, and gel color. One nail repair is included.
Manicure + design, $125. Everything in Manicure + color, plus a French, chrome, cat eye or simple design. More detailed art is an add-on from $5 to $40.
How it compares with a regular manicure
| Typical salon manicure | Russian manicure at CUTEMANIA | |
|---|---|---|
| Water | Hands soaked first | No soaking |
| Cuticle | Pushed back and clipped | Lifted and refined with an e-file |
| Where color starts | A little away from the cuticle | Close to the cuticle line |
| Before color | A thin base coat | A strengthening, leveling layer |
| Time with color | Often under an hour | 1 hr 40 min to 2 hr |
Long nails, repairs and nail art
- Long nails are $15 extra.
- One nail repair is included with color and design manicures; each additional repair is $5 per nail.
- Broken nail reconstruction is $10 per nail.

Coming from dip powder?
The studio doesn't apply dip powder, Gel-X or acrylic, but it does remove them. Dip removal is a $10 add-on. Read what to expect from dip removal.
Before your appointment
Please don't trim your cuticles or do your own manicure right before the visit. It helps prevent irritation and lets the cuticle work be done safely.
