Dip powder is built from layers of resin and colored powder. It's durable, which is why it's popular, and also why it shouldn't be pulled or peeled off. Peeling takes the top layers of your natural nail with it and leaves the nail thin, bendy and sensitive.
How professional removal works
In general, the shiny top layer is filed down first so the remover can reach the product underneath. The remaining dip is softened and gently lifted, and the nail is smoothed. No hard scraping and no prying.
It takes longer than taking off gel, which is why studios usually price it separately.
Dip removal at CUTEMANIA
CUTEMANIA Nail Studio doesn't apply dip powder, Gel-X, acrylic or similar systems. For these, the studio only offers removal. Dip removal is a $10 add-on to your manicure. Removal of previous gel is already included in every manicure.
What to book after removal
- Manicure + color, $110. A Russian manicure with a strengthening, leveling layer and gel color. A good default if your nails are in decent shape.
- No polish manicure, $75. Shaping and cuticle care without color, if you'd like a break from product.
If your nails are severely damaged, color may not be the right first step. For your safety, the studio may suggest waiting, or seeing a medical professional if there are signs of infection or inflammation.
Before your appointment
Leave the dip on. Don't soak or peel it at home, and don't trim your cuticles beforehand. When you book, add dip removal or mention it, so there's time for it.
